Larimar cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of larimar, a rare blue variety of gem pectolite from the only known source, the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. I wish I had purchased a LOT more rough when I had the chance, because the price has certainly climbed steadily over the years. This example has delicious sky blue coloration, extra gemmy, with some darker and more saturated spots, including lovely pools of silky chatoyance. The back isn't quite as flat as I'd like, and has some matte areas that refused to gloss, but I didn't think you'll find that distracting. This stone has a generously high rounded dome of 8.5mm, a versatile 'diamond pillow' shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
