charoite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of charoite, cut from Russian rough purchased by my cousin directly from the importer. This rare purple gem material is found only at a single source, along the Charo River, located in a very remote area of East Central Siberia. This cab features a delightful crushed velvet sort of pattern with areas of excellent pearly chatoyance. There are also splashes of black aegirine-augite, and a prismatic needle of yellow-orange tinaksite, rare minerals in their own right. This example has been backed with an extra thin layer of black jade for added strength. The stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a versatile designer shape, and a super glossy polish both front and back.
