Moonstone cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of rainbow moonstone, from India. Cut from hard-to-find rough, Romans named it so because they thought it was made of moonlight. It's actually orthoclase, like its closest relative, labradorite. This example has excellent schiller, in appealing shades of blue, orange and golden yellow. There are several natural inclusions present, but the cab is quite perfectly sound, as well as affordable. It has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a designer 'teardrop' shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
