Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a spectacular cabochon of Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This example is extroardinarily colorful, showing a near-rainbow of pastel hues, with hints of several orbicular patterns. It seems almost brecciated. Oddly enough, there is a shallow sparkly druzy pocket on the backside, which is just as beautiful with one large baby blue orb. The stone has a low rounded dome of nearly 4mm, a fat designer 'flame' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
