Butterfly wing jasper cab ~
Offered here is an attractive cabochon of butterfly wing jasper, from Mexico. This long time favorite brecciated jasper (technically a rhyolite) is a much sought after classic, and a favorite in my studio. This stone is a delightful example of grand old material, with plenty of colofully varied figure, including an intriguing patch of smoky agate with some water-level lines and brecciated bits of confetti. The agate area is nicely translucent, though I neglected to take a photo of it. Any odd lines are either totally and naturally healed or simply part of the pattern, so you just can't go wrong with this beauty; it definitely won't disappoint! The cab has a low rounded dome of nearly 6mm, an elegant designer shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
