Offered here is a extraordinary cabochon cut from rare lazulite in quartzite, premium lapidary material from Georgia's renown Graves Mountain area. This example has an impressive display of light and dark royal blue lazulite crystals, though few show any hint of their typical dipyramidal form. The grayish quartzite base has a nice degree of translucence, and contains a multitude of silvery pyrite flecks that sparkle like extra fine glitter, though my camera captured only the merest hint of them. If you like featuring the truly unusual in your creations, you're going to love this stone! It has a high rounded dome of 7mm, a sleek designer 'flame' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
