Fossil coral cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of colorful fossilized coral, from Indonesia. This fascinating material has an unmistakeable one-of-a-kind pattern of flower-like starbursts, hence the name 'flowers of the sea', as it is sometimes known. The stone is actually composed of the highly silicated fossil remains of colonial sea coral, many millions of years old. In this example, the flowers have attractive shades of pink & dusty rose, with white, showing up nicely against a neutral gray background.
