Fossilized bryzoa cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized bryzoa, a material recently imported from Indonesia. Similar to fossil corals, bryzoans are ancient sea creatures that lived in colonies, and secreted a hard tube-like skeleton. The individual tubes in which they lived are still quite apparent in the black and white pattern of this stone. Fascinating to be able to see what these once living colonies left behind, millions of years later! This cab has a high rounded dome of 7mm, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
