Owyhee jasper cab ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of Owyhee jasper, from Oregon, cut by my son Christopher. Technically, this jasper is actually a rarer greenish sub-variety known as war bonnet or pea jasper, but a few slices of the rough had this more typically colored area. The resulting stone has an almost painted pattern of red plumes and orange splashes which stand out strongly against a lemon chiffon background. At bit of the greenish hues can be seen at one edge. This classic treasure is sure to spark your imagination if anything will. The stone has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a designer 'flame' shape, with a slick glassy polish. The back is sanded smooth but unpolished.
Size: 47x19mm
Weight: approximately 30 carats
