Shattuckite in chrysocolla cab ~
Offered here is a LARGE, deluxe cabochon of shattuckite from the Congo. This deep blue material looks similar to lapis lazuli, and I have to say the photos fall short of illustrating the exact shade. To my eye, the color is a blend of navy blue and cornflower, with a scattering of sub-metallic brownish webs. This highly silicated material is quite durable, so it polished very well, although the surface has a hint of waviness. No pits or cracks that I can find. The stone has a generously high rounded dome of 7mm, and a sweet designer shape, polished both front and back.
