Pilbara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a bold cabochon of Pilbara jasper, from Australia, fresh from this year's Tucson shows. This material certainly cuts striking stones, with contrast a plenty. This example has mostly white and burnt orange streaks, with a few in dark blood red and yellow hues. The artful criss-crossing road map pattern really catches the eye, and I think it has a boatload of designer potential. If you do too, grab it and make it yours!! The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, a 'chevron' shape, and despite a few tiny neglible voids, it is nicely polished both front and back.
