Botswana agate cab ~
Offered here is a dramatic cabochon of Botswana agate, from Africa. One of my long time favorite materials, I was delighted to have purchased a large cache of top notch slabs and rough this past February. This classic example has strongly contrasting fortification bands that resemble woodgrain, cut from the very heart of a prized nodule. It is a shadow agate, and exhibits an amazing degree of parallax, in that the bands seem to wiggle open and closed. It's a real keeper, and will be splendid in even the simplest of settings. The cab has a low rounded dome of 4mm, and a versatile designer 'flame' shape, polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
