Inferno agate cab ~
Offered here is a large and intriguing cabochon of the new inferno agate, cut from fresh stock hand selected at this year's Tucson shows. I'm told this material comes from the Laguna agate claims, and I am amazed by the many beautiful variations of its patterns. This example has a wild display of tubes, fortifications and mosses in a very appropriate shades of golden butterscotch yellow and crimson. The agate in the spaces between the tendrils is nicely translucent, and the slender end of the stone has countless tiny yellow beads suspended within, some forming bands. There's a couple sparkly crystalline pockets too. Inferno agate is absolutely gorgeous stuff! Already I'm wishing for more. The cab has a generously high rounded dome of 7mm, a graceful designer 'teardrop' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
