charoite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of charoite, from Russia. Charoite is a rare purple gem material found only at a single source, along the Charo River in Yakutsk (in the former U.S.S.R.), a very remote area of East Central Siberia.
This striking cab features swirls of pearly chatoyance in GORGEOUS deep purples, along with several translucent pools of feldspar, a touch of prismatic golden-orange tinaksite (a rare mineral in and of itself), and areas of black aegirine-augite. I feel confident in saying you'll look a long time to find one as nice these days, in this large size!
The stone has a low rounded dome, a sweet designer shape, and a super glossy polish both front and back.
