Fossil coral cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of ancient fossilized coral, from Indonesia. This fascinating material is something you don't see too often, particularly in these shades, and I must say I like it alot. It is composed of the highly silicated fossil remains of colonial sea coral, many millions of years old! This particular stone has excellent contrast, with a wall-to-wall polka dot pattern of dark-edged yellowish "flowers" that remind me of citrus slices floating in a punchbowl. Between them is a snowstorm of unusual white flecks. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a long, gracefully curved designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
