Cherry Creek jasper cab ~
Offered here is a new material called Cherry Creek jasper, which hails from China. I'm told only a relatively small quantity was brought to the U.S., so I feel lucky to have grabbed some of the very prettiest pieces available. I've only cut a few cabs from this material, and it looks like a winner to me. In this largish example, the background is both a golden color with slightly olive undertones between the webs. Some of the streaks remind me of brown barbed wire, and some of the webbing has a metallic sheen, while others are black framing white patches. It certainly cuts artistic cabs, uniquely striking in their own way, and I think this one will make an outstanding item of jewelry. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp designer 'spear' shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
