Fireworks obsidian cab ~
Offered here is a deluxe cabochon of Mexican fireworks obsidian, or well I should say, that's what the gentleman I bought it from called it. It's unlike any obsidian I've ever had before, more like a jasper. It features intricately detailed starburst patterns in pale pink and beige against a darker reddish brownish background. To me, the central 'flower' in this example looks exactly like a chrysanthemum in full bloom, rather than fireworks. The fine crackleur pattern was not apparent to me until I sized the photos, but all of the stone's surfaces are completely smooth. I must say I like this fascinating material, and not only because every cab is unique. The stone has a well rounded dome of 5.5mm, a curvy designer shape, and a slick glossy polish front and back.
Size: 47x24mm
Weight: approximately 34 carats
