Turquoise ~
Offered here is a cabochon of turquoise from China, cut from hand selected rough fresh from this year's Tucson shows. The stone not only has wonderfully appealing sky blues, but also has golden russet, avocado and olive greens, and pastel yellow. Each individual nodule within the stone stands out beautifully against a background of contrasting chocolate brown to black. It reminds me a lot of the old Royston turquoise, the stuff I chose back in the '70s for my own jewelry. This material has been stabilized by a hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, but not dyed. It will wear wonderfully, without darkening or dimming over the years. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, a graceful designer shape, and a fabulous glossy polish both front and back.
