Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of the Royal Sahara jasper, recently harvested in the North African Sahara desert. It's the newest addition to the beloved family of porcelain jaspers, and has so much going for it, it's difficult to describe... It compares well to the old Deschutes and Biggs jaspers, with even wilder, more colorfully exotic patterns. This example has ribbons of rich reddish browns, varying shades of creamy ochres and tans, as well as slate blues and undertones of olive green. Whether you're a collector or a jewelry designer, try it and you'll see, this stuff really has a certain magic. This stone has a high rounded dome of nearly 6mm, and a designer 'spearhead' shape. Like the other more familiar porcelain jaspers, it is very hard, so I was able to achieve a brilliant polish both front and back.
Size: 41x34 mm
Weight: approximately 42 carats
