Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of African pietersite. Chris cut this exceptionally colorful example, which features outstanding silky chatoyance in a velvety, swirling pattern that changes with the light. There's quite a bit of agate in this one, mostly in the yellow-orange areas, evident by a bit of translucence there. Please be sure to click the pics to enlarge them to full size to see the fine details. It has a low but nicely rounded dome of nearly 4mm, and a fine glassy polish both front and back. And considering how the cost of fine pietersite has sky-rocketed in recent years, the per carat price for a stone of this size and quality is a steal!
