Opalite cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of opalite, from the Brush-Wellman beryllium mine in Utah (now closed to any and all collecting). Sometimes known as bertrandite, Tiffany stone, ice cream opal, and even 'Purple Passion', no matter what you call it, it's certainly gorgeous stuff! I'm told this rare opal gets its beautiful colors from fluorite. This example has both peachy pink shades, with several well defined black dendrites adding character. There are also thready webs of what looks like clear agate. It's a beauty! The stone has a rounded dome of 6mm, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
Size: 33x25mm
Weight: approximately 34 carats
