Tourmalated quartz cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of tourmalated quartz, cut from a Brazilian crystal. This quartz has a scattering of tiny jet black needles of tourmaline, going every which way. Some of the heavier needles have a dark reddish brown color, which makes me think those are actually rutile. There are some also some interesting bubble-like inclusions. It's not the best I've ever had to work with, and there are a few pinpoint voids, but it IS a fascinating stone nonetheless. The cab has a beautifully high rounded dome of 8.5mm, a bold designer shape, and it is polished both front and back.
