Moonstone cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of rainbow moonstone, from India. Cut from hard-to-find rough, Romans named it so because they thought it was made of moonlight. It's actually orthoclase, like its closest relative, labradorite. This example has excellent flashy blue and purplish schiller, bisected by a line of golden yellow-orange. There are only a few natural crystalline inclusions present, but this beauty is still quite affordable. It has a high rounded dome of 7.5mm, a graceful designer shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 39x16mm
Weight: approximately 36 carats
