Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of spiderweb Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This old stock material originally came from a guy here in North Idaho, who bought barrels of it decades ago. It's harder to come by this quality these days. Imperial jasper is a member of the fine grained porcelain family I always enjoy working with. This delicately colored example has streamers of peachy pink against a background of pastel greens. The meandering ribbons have an almost three dimensional quality about them, due to some subtle shadowing, giving it a rather art nouveau quality. The stone has a well rounded dome of 6+mm, and a gracefully curved designer 'flame' shape that's polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
Size: 64X21mm
Weight: approximately 65 carats
