Pilbara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a bold cabochon of Pilbara jasper, a recent Australian find, fresh from this year's Quartzite shows. This new material certainly cuts a striking stone, with contrast aplenty. This example has a black/charcoal background with white and yellow streaks, and just a splash or two of red. The impressively artful criss-crossing road map pattern really catches the eye, and I think it has a boatload of designer potential. It'll be equally impressive in gold or silver, in even the simplest of settings. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, a plump flame shape, and a great glossy polish both front and back.
