Dryhead agate cab ~
Offered here is a LARGE & dintinguished cabochon of collectible Dryhead agate, from Montana. The first thing you notice about this example is the wildly intricate fortifications in the classic shades of orange, yellow and red. I think there's a greenish band too. That, in turn, is framed with two thin bands, razor fine, one white, one translucent yellow. Then the whole works is contained in a brown background. At the core, is a 'floater' surrounded by a band of pale lavender crystal. It's quite striking, easily worthy of gold, and the more you look, the more there is to see! The cab has a generously high rounded dome of 8mm, and a smooth 'almond' shape, beautifully polished both front and back.
Size: 51x25mm
Weight: approximately 86 carats
