flame agate cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of flame agate, from California. The exact locale is not known because the old label said only "California flame", but it's certainly beautiful material. It has a nice display of flames in the appropriate crimson, rose and pinkish hues. The background is a highly translucent blend of agate and quartz, and has a light peppering of tiny metallic flecks. The sparkly quartz area resembles crushed ice, and includes a couple of open sparkly crystalline vugs as well as two beneath the surface, adding much to the stone's character. Gorgeous! The cab has a crisp designer shape, a low rounded dome of 5mm, and despite a wee bit of surface texture (due to the quartz), it took a fine glassy polish both front and back.
