Stone Canyon jasper ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Stone Canyon jasper, from California. It is fine example of brecciated stone, which means the original ochre-yellow jasper was once broken apart by some powerful earth movement, and then naturally re-cemented with contrasting milky and yellow agate, some with ribbons of burgundy-red. The agate has some translucency in those infilled areas, adding a bit of depth and character. The stone has a low rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp, bold shape, and a brilliant polish both front and back.
