Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a remarkable cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. This amazing porcelain material is very reminiscent of the old Deschutes and Biggs jaspers, often with even wilder, more exotic patterns. This example has branching ribbons of rich browns against a background of ochres and creamy tans, and just the merest hint of pink. Viewed with a bit of imagination, it's rather scenic, with dark peppery dendritic foliage. Royal Sahara jasper is an INSTANT CLASSIC; whether you're a collector or a jewelry designer, try it and you'll see, this stuff has a truly magical quality. This stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, and a versatile designer shape that contains the pattern beautifully. Like all the more familiar porcelain jaspers, RSJ is very hard, so I was able to polish both front and back to a brilliant shine.
Size: 32x32mm
Weight: approximately 57 carats
