Carnelian cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of gorgeous Oregon carnelian, also known as orange chalcedony. It features juicy translucent reddish orange coloration, with a great display of the internal 'cornflakes' so sought after by collectors. I tried my best to capture the beautiful 'flakes inside this stone, but the saturated color tends to wash out such details. If you look closely, you'll see it also has a primary pattern of bands, and the stone is beautifully translucent, as illustrated by the backlit photo. I think it's nicer in hand than the photos show, and believe me, carnelian with this rich coloration is none too easy to come by these days! Most have color only on the outside of the rough pieces, in a thin layer of rind. Not this one, it's vibrant hue is through and through. The cab has a low rounded dome, a crisp 'shield' shape, and an excellent glassy polish, slick as can be, both front and back.
