Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of imperial jasper, from Mexico. This classic old material is absolutely amazing stuff, a member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. This example has a pattern of streaks in shades of dark forest green, alternating with a lighter pastel shades of mint. The darkest areas are surprisingly translucent, though I somehow neglected to take a backlit photo. The stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a graceful designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
