Deschutes jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Deschutes jasper, from Oregon. A treasured favorite in the celebrated family of porcelain jaspers, classic old material like this has become quite collectible and pricey these days, when one can find any to buy. This delightful example features a scenic hilly pattern in richly contrasting earth tones of peachy tans and reddish browns, with a grayish 'sky' above. Nice dendrites too, adding some shrubbery. One fellow who saw this cab commented that the two odd lines looked like wagon wheel ruts leading over an unseen hill to the east. -smile- These colors look terrific in a setting of silver, though this jasper is certainly worthy of gold; the choice is yours! The cab has a low but nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a sleek designer drop shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 47x22mm
