Pinolith cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of pinolith, from a small manganese quarry in Austria's Turen Mountains. I really like the absract flower-petal patterns in this unusual material. I'm told it is rare, and have seen a few small slabettes sell for ridiculously high prices. Its hardness is rather on the softer side, very much like crinoid marble, though I don't think that'll pose any problem in most jewelry. It'd be perfect as a pendant! The stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, and it is nicely polished both front and back.
Size: 55x23mm
Weight: approximately 56 carats
