Bruneau jasper cab ~
Offered here is a sweet little cabochon of Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. Looking from the photos to the stone, I have to say this one is more beautiful in hand. It's a squeaky clean example without flaw, and has an atypical, understated pattern of diagonal bands. The colors are classic, combining warm hues of creamy peach and burnt orange chiffon, including a hint of translucence toward the outer edges. Sadly, the best of this hard porcelain jasper is becoming alarmingly scarce and spendy these days, and I hear only one fellow actively mines the claim. The stone has a low rounded dome of 4mm, a crisp designer 'spear' shape, and a superb polish both front and back.
