Morrisonite jasper cab ~
Offered here is a fine cabochon of premium morrisonite jasper, from the old Morrison Ranch digs in Oregon. This extinct material is a premier member of the porcelain jasper family, sought by collectors worldwide. This stone is unusual in that it appears to be composed of pieces of jasper backfilled with a semi-translucent agate of grayish-avocado color. That very unique brecciated jasper is a blend of colors that include pink, rust, gold, mauve and even a dab or two of green. Kind of wild! I do need to mention the presence of a few tiny voids and a couple barely noticeable hairlines, though the stone is quite solid and sound, ready to take part in your next masterpiece. It has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a 'rounded keystone' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 50x29mm
Weight: approximately 61 carats
