Marra Mamba tigereye cab ~
Offered here is an amazing cabochon of rare Marra Mamba tigereye, from Australia. This startling material is brilliantly chatoyant, with a bright rolling flash you just can't miss, even in these flat digital photos. It is predominantly a fiery copper-red, the most highly prized of all the colors, but there's also a patch of blue at the large end. Only the top quality Marra Mamba tigereye possesses this vibrant electric gleam in these outrageous colors. Adding a bit more to the palette, there is a thin ribbon of pastel orange fading to green at one side, edged with shiny metallic hematite and ochre jasper. The dark flecks seen at the other side are also hematite, and they're quite shiny too, though the camera records them as being dark. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and an excellent glassy polish both front and back. It's a steal of a deal at less than $2 per carat!
