Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of the Royal Sahara jasper, harvested in the North African Sahara desert. It's the newest addition to the beloved family of porcelain jaspers, and has a lot going for it. This particular cab has orby figure with varying shades of creamy ochres and tans, even some blue-gray, framed in browns so dark they appear almost black. There's a scattering of nice jet black dendrites at the fat end too, giving the stone a rather scenic quality. If you haven't yet experienced RSJ for yourself, try some in your next creation and you'll see, this stuff is magical! This stone has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, and a graceful designer shape. Like the other more familiar porcelain jaspers, it is very hard, and took a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
