Paul Bunyan plume agate cab ~
Offered here is an interesting cabochon of rare Paul Bunyan plume (or flame) agate, which hails from a long depleted area near Barstow, California. This example has intricate tongues of plume contrasting wonderfully well against a background of darker blue gray agate. The figure is amazing in this cab, as the fortified layers of the finger-like plumes go from crimson to magenta, to pinkish purple to white, then to shades of gray, and finally to a heavier lacy edging of near black or charcoal. There's also a neat drusy pocket, adding a bit of sparkle. It's an unusual beauty, for sure, one that would make a fine centerpiece in anyone's agate collection, or mighty attractive framed in gold. Designer heaven! The stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a crisp designer 'diamond' shape, and a glassy polish front and back.
