Apache jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of Apache jasper, actually a rhyolite, also known as Mimbres Valley jasper, after the New Mexico location where it's found. For me, this fabulous material always brings to mind the flavor of the southwest, with its strong resemblance to sagebrush-dotted desertscapes. This fine example has a plethora of dendrites, along with arching bandings in shades of deep maroon and dusty rose pink. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, a long designer 'paisley' shape, and a great glossy polish both front and back.
Size: 65x20mm
Weight: approximately 54 carats
