Youngite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of top quality youngite, which I'm told was harvested from caves in Wyoming. Youngite is a very interesting material, fluorescing bright green under UV light. Over the years, I've heard that many of those caves filled with water, making scuba diving gear necessary to bring it out. This classic example features brecciated jasper in darker pinkish brown, encased in translucent agate that appears somewhat purplish, with a river of white agate flowing through the stone from end to end. The backlit photo reveals that each piece of jasper is fortified with nearly clear agate, resulting in a neat effect. There are also a couple of tiny voids, including a sparkling drusy pocket, for extra added character. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of almost 6.5mm, a gracefully arched designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 61x24mm
