Sugilite cab ~
Offered here is an cabochon of sugilite, from the Wessels mine near Kuramen, South Africa. This manganese gem features an appealing purple coloration, in an unusual pattern interspersed with streaks of blue gray. No, it's not the gemmy gel material few of us can find or afford, but it's definitely nice nonetheless. The thing I like best about sugilite, other than the pleasing color, is that it looks equally terrific in either silver or gold. The cab has a very high rounded dome of nearly 6mm, and an excellent polish both front and back.
