Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently harvested in the North African Sahara desert. It's the newest addition to the beloved family of porcelain jaspers, and has so much going for it, it's difficult to describe... It compares well to the old Deschutes and Biggs jaspers, with even wilder, more colorfully exotic patterns. This particular cab has orbs with subtle shadings of rich reddish browns, varying shades of creamy ochres and tans, framed in browns so dark they appear nearly black. There's a scattering of nice jet black dendrites at the narrow end too. If you haven't yet experienced RSJ for yourself, try some in your next creation and you'll see, this stuff is magical! This stone has a low rounded dome of 5mm, and a versatile designer drop shape. Like the other more familiar porcelain jaspers, it is very hard, and accepted a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
