Bruneau jasper cab ~
Offered here is an unusual cabochon of Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. Truly, I'd have to say this stone is more attractive in hand than in the photos. It has an interesting pattern that includes some of the edges of multiple orbs, one in front of the other, and it also includes an 'S' shaped ribbony band for added character. The colors are classic, combining warm hues of creamy peach and burnt orange chiffon with subtle nuance shading. Sadly, the best of this hard porcelain jasper is becoming alarmingly scarce and spendy these days, but I was able to get the rough for this stone directly from a fellow who once owned a claim in the canyon. Bruneau jasper takes an outrageously glassy polish, and when it's nicely patterned like this cab is, it is highly sought after by collectors and designers alike. The stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a sweet designer 'almond' shape, and a glass-smooth polish both front and back.
