Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, discovered in the form of nodules in the North African Sahara desert. This particular cab of RSJ porcelain jasper looks a lot like Oregon's Biggs and Deschutes jaspers, even though it originated on the other side of the planet, with very similar patterns and colors. No wonder; all three jaspers are said to be composed of silicified mud. There are streamers of rich browns against a background of creamy tan shades, with several strokes of an unusual olive green, and a scattering of jet black dendrites. This stone has a high rounded dome of 5.5mm, a designer 'flame' shape, and an excellent glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 48x27mm
Weight: approximately 48 carats
