Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is an amazing carved cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, discovered by George Sechler in the North African Sahara desert. (You can meet George and Janet Sechler personally while they're in Tucson this February at the TEP RV Park Gem and Mineral Show, space #29. If you do attend, tell them Sam sent you, and be sure to take a look at the outrageous suite of RSJ stones they asked me to cut especially for the show! You might ask to see the silver seahorse/RSJ pendant, too!) This example has a wild undulating pattern in a variety of rich earthy tones, showing some orbing in the lightest areas, with some subtle light and dark 'curtain effect' within it too. A few well placed jet black dendrites add a bit of familiar realism to the otherworldly landscape captured in the stone. I carved a slot in the side, which would be a perfect spot for the addition of a faceted stone; I've seen that sunstone goes beautifully with RSJ. This stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, and a fanciful designer shape attractively framing the pattern, brought to a brilliant shine.
Size: 57x29mm
Weight: approximately 60 carats
