Rutilated quartz cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fancy rutilated quartz, from Brazil. The golden rutile in this example is the 'angel hair' variety, which is thin and fine, and scattered like jackstraws. The quality I like most about it is the stone's remarkable depth, created by the many layers of rutile, criss-crossing every which way. The water clear quartz really shows off this stone's golden inclusions, which light up like threads of spun gold in direct sunlight! The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a designer 'flame' shape, and a slick, glassy polish both front and back.
