Botswana agate cab ~
Offered here is a super dramatic cabochon of Botswana agate, from Africa. This one arrived in a parcel of rose agates, which contained several other nice Botswana agate nodules, and I was delighted to have them. They're not easy to come by nowadays, thanks to the embargo on exporting unfinished rough. As you can see, this example has a big bold pattern of contrasting bands in a chevron pattern, and really pretty, but difficult to describe, colors. The stone is wonderfully translucent, especially in the wide reddish brown bands and light blue-gray areas. It's a keeper, for sure, one that will certainly 'speak' well in your jewelry creations. It has a well rounded dome of 5.5mm, a crisp designer, and it is polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
