Tahoma jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of collectibly rare Tahoma jasper, from the slopes of Mt. Rainier in Washington state. My son Christopher cut this example from seam material that was sawed with the banded patterns. So the color layers are stacked one atop the other. That's why this one looks so different from what we're all used to seeing. I kind of like it! The backside is pale blue, and the next layer is a pastel ivory yellow. In the center of the stone is a pool of translucent golden agate and around that is yet another pool of light blue surrounded by black flecks and yellow clouds. I think Tahoma jasper must be a mixture of agate and jasper, because there is nearly always some translucence present. This stone has a high and well rounded dome of 7mm, a sleek designer shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 48x27mm
