Rhodochrosite cab ~
Offered here is an unusual cabochon of rhodochrosite, from Argentina, cut from a slice of stalactite base. Not easy to come by like it once was, last I heard, the price of classic rhodochrosite is strictly controlled by the Argentinian goverment. -grr- This fascinating stone features lovely pink coloration, with a display of tiny orbs as well as subtly sparkling flecks. I particularly like the dark metallics in this one, adding a nice touch of character and contrast. It has a low rounded dome of 4.5mm, a designer 'drop', and it is polished to a lustrous brilliance both front and back.
