Pilbara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Pilbara jasper, a recent Australian find, fresh from this year's shows. This new material certainly cuts a striking stone! This example is about half black, with contrasting streaks of crimson and yellow, with a dab or off white and gray. The other half is reddish orange, with a crushed velvet look. The impressively artful criss-crossing road map pattern really catches the eye, and I think it has excellent designer potential. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp designer shape, and a glassy polish both front and back.
